A merchant account is very useful if you have a high profile website with lost of visitors and very good conversion rate.

Tus won't entirely work. What if the user has already went to a previous affiliate site where the have gotten a clickbank cookie for that same product...you as an affiliate sending them directly to the clickbank checkout page will not get the sale attributed to you....just try it. The cookie overides the link
